چکیده
Molluscs are highly delicious seafood and they are also very good source for biomedically imported products. Among the molluscs some have pronounced pharmacological activities or other properties which are useful in the biomedical area. In the present study antimicrobial activity of gill extraction of Perna viridis was investigated. In antibacterial activity the maximum zone of inhibition (19 mm) was observed against Staphylococcus aureus and minimum activity (11 mm) was observed in Salmonella paratyphi. In antifungal activity maximum zone of inhibition was observed in Aspergillus flavus (13mm) and minimum zone of inhibition was recorded in Mucor sp (11mm). The gill extraction samples showed antimicrobial activity was subjected to SDS-PAGE to estimate the molecular weight of proteins present after electrophoresis only one clear band were detected in the gel which represented proteins of molecular weight 9.7 kDa. In the present study indicated that the gill extraction of P.viridis may potential source for antibiotics.

IV. CHARACTERIZATION OF CHOLINESTERASE ACTIVITY IN GREEN MUSSEL (Perna viridis) AS A POTENTIAL BIOMARKER IN MARINE BIOMONITORING 4.1. Abstract Green mussels (Perna viridis) play an important economic and ecological role in the coastal areas of Indonesia. P. viridis has been used as an eco-sentinel organism for marine biomonitoring programme in Asia regions. To magnify its competency as a releva...
متن کاملBiokinetics of Cesium in Perna Viridis
The biokinetics of Cs in four compartments in the green-lipped mussel Perna viridis, namely, gill, viscera, adductor muscle, and foot, were studied. First-order linear differential equations were set up for these four compartments, and their solutions were used to fit the experimental data. The parameters governing the biokinetics, which depend on the elimination rate from each compartment and ...

The health of an organism depends on its self protective ability. The regulatory enzyme, biomarkers measurable changes have been used as an effective early warning tool in ecological risk assessment. In order to develop an integrated risk assessment strategy for the South east coast of India. The green mussels Perna viridis were collected from three sites along the southern east coast with diff...
متن کاملKaryotype analysis of chub, Squalius cephalus (Linnaeus, 1758) (Teleostei: Cyprinidae) from Karasu River, Erzurum, Turkey
The karyotypic characteristics of chub, Squalius cephalus have been investigated by examining metaphase chromosomes spreads obtained from gill and kidney tissues. The fish used in the study were caught with fishing nets from Dumlu Stream, one of the main tributaries of the Karasu River. The live fish were transported to the laboratory, kept in a well aerated aquarium before analysis and then...

The fish's primary immune system in epidermis produces the mucosal layer as a surplus mechanism to cover the surface of the fish's body against infections. In addition to its physical functions such as reducing water friction and protecting against abrasion, it contains biologically active constituents, which is the first line of defense against pathogens. During the past years, the antimicrobi...
